The Search for Rebekah

Under 5: Read about the search for Rebekah from a children's story bible or the short summary below.

Abraham decided it was time for Isaac to take a wife. He wanted a woman from his native land who loved and worshipped God, so he sent his chief servant to find a young woman and bring her back to him. The servant left and took ten camels with him. He stopped near a well outside the town of Nahor. The servant prayed to God and asked for help to find the right woman. Just then, Rebekah came over and offered him some water from her jar. She also gave water to his camels. The servant asked her name, and Rebekah told him she was from Nahor’s family, which was related to Abraham. The servant was so happy because he knew then that she was the answer to his prayer. He gave Rebekah some of the gifts he had brought and asked to speak with her father and brother. Rebekah had a brother named Laban. Laban said,” Let her become the wife of your master’s son, as the Lord has directed.” So the servant took Rebekah and she became Isaac’s wife, and he loved her.
