Shepherds Tell the Good News

Age 5+: Read Luke 2: 8-20
Under 5: Read about the birth announcement to the shepherds from a children's story bible or the short summary below.

On the night that Jesus was born, there were shepherds nearby watching their sheep. Suddenly, an angel appeared to them and a bright light shone around them. The shepherds were scared! The angel said, "Don't be afraid. I bring good news! Today a Savior has been born. You will find him wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Then the night became bright as day as more angels filled the sky. They praised God and sang, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

The angels had been sent by God to tell the wonderful news about the birth of Jesus. After the angels left and went into heaven, the shepherds hurried off to find baby Jesus. They found Him lying in a manger. After the shepherds had seen Him, they told everyone. All who heard it were amazed. The shepherds gave glory and praise to God.
